Crystal gazing, also known as scrying, is one of the most ancient forms of divination. The best known form of scrying uses a crystal ball. But you don’t need a crystal ball to do your own crystal gazing, any clear crystal will do. The presence of inclusions or imperfections in the crystal are not a problem and can actually help the intuitive process.
Crystal gazing takes advantage of the mind’s ability to project images from your super consciousness onto a clear, reflective surface. Babylonians used bowls of water to gaze to divine the future. Egyptians used a pool of ink held in the hand. Hindus gazed at bowls of molasses.
1. Choose a clear crystal or crystal ball you attend to use.
If it is the first time using the crystal you may want to cleanse the crystal in salt water first, to remove other people’s energy.
2. Sit quietly with the crystal in front of you.
Find a time when you will not be interrupted. A low, gentle lighting is best.
3. Close your eyes for a moment and focus on a specific issue or question that you may have.
Take a deep breath and allow any tension to flow from your body.
4. Open your eyes and pick a spot that you feel drawn to.
Gaze at the spot. Don’t try to make sense of the images, just let them flow. If you feel yourself getting lighter or even starting to vibrate, that is a sign you are connecting with the crystal.
5. Speak into a recorder or write about what you see.
Don’t try to make sense of what you see, just speak or write it down.
6. Review what you have recorded or written down.
Look for symbolism and meaning relevant to your original question or issue.
You will be surprised at the information you will find with this technique! It takes practice so don’t be discouraged if you feel it doesn’t work right away.
Often you will find that it is not the crystal gazing that isn’t working, but the logical brain that steps in too quickly to interpret or discount images that is the problem. Logic is an important part of making your final decisions, but set it aside while doing the crystal gazing.
Have fun and happy gazing!
